Don’t forget that 26 years ago Dr Dancey introduced mesotherapy to the UK for the treatment of cellulite. Since then the treatment has become accepted as a mainstay for the treatment of skin and fat. In France and elsewhere it is part of a wider treatment routine for orthopaedic, digestive and degenerative conditions.
Mesotherapy describes the method of injecting a medicine directly into the area that requires treatment. Since cellulite and fat respond so well to radiofrequency and/or Coolsculpting we only use mesotherapy for nourishing the skin of the face and body.
The skin depends on a good blood supply to deliver nutrition and oxygen and a good lymphatic and venous drainage to remove waste and toxins. Part of the ageing process involves a gradual slowing down of both the blood supply to and the venous and lymphatic drainage from the tissues, thereby reducing the amount of nutrients available to the skin.
Mesotherapy aims to address this. By injecting pure vitamins, minerals and hyaluronic acid directly into the growing skin area we can slow down and often reverse some of the ageing aspects. The stimulation of the skin and fibroblasts makes the healing response spring into action, making use of the nutrients and hyaluronic acid instantly available.
The specialised needles that we use deliver a small amount very precisely into the area of skin that will respond the best, with very little trauma, bruising or pain.
Very specialised mixtures can be used. We use the original Filorga product NCTF 135 with its long safety and efficacy history.
Mesotherapy is good for ageing skin, fine, dry skin that is beginning to show signs of ageing, lacklustre skin and skin that needs a boost. Mesotherapy is particularly suitable for the sine skin around the eyes.
HOW DOES IT FEEL? HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The tiny pin pricks on the face are tolerable. Numbing cream is available if necessary. The treatment takes about 20 minutes, after which you may apply Oxygenetix make-up, designed to be used after a procedure.
IS THERE ANY DOWN TIME?
There may be some small bruises which last a day or so. Tiny blebs which appear during the treatment settle down within 24 hours.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
Everything depends on your skin but in general one treatment per week for 3 – 4 weeks then at increasing intervals until maintenance every 12 weeks.
